2.  Covering Letter: A covering letter is drafted by the forwarding authority, which could be the SDPO, an officer of the Above Rank, or a Judicial Officer. This letter introduces the evidence and the Letter of Advice, ensuring proper communication with the Director of the Forensic Science Laboratory.


     Expert Inquiry: The Letter of Advice serves as a conduit for posing detailed questions to the forensic expert.  These questions provide specific guidance to the expert regarding the analysis required and the context of the evidence.
